1. Through Nur al-Din every barren tract

    in this world became a garden, and every heart was renewed.

  2. At every pass of peril he took his stand;

    sleepless, he spent the night guarding every weary soul.

  3. His justice guided him aright at every turn,

    and so replaced one bereft of it with one richly endowed.

  4. His judgment makes the defender’s judgment bow,

    and fear of him kills before battle begins.

  5. Indeed, you have secured for Islam a glory

    whose pinnacle eludes the hand of every foe.

  6. And the protecting fortresses have come to enfold

    a safeguard whose cords can never unravel.
