1. هو الجدّ بِزّ التّمام البدورا

    شوى كلَّ ما جَنَتِ الحادثا

    He is the full moon at its brightest time

    He has healed all the wounds of misfortune

  2. تُ ما كنت ظلّاً عَلَينا قَريرا

    أَسأْنَ وَأَحسَن كنّ الهِلال

    You were a gentle shade over us

    Whether beneficent or doing good, you were like the crescent moon

  3. وَمَلأنَنا منكَ بدراً مُنيرا

    إِذا ثَبح البَحر أَخطأنَهُ

    And you filled us with radiant full moon

    When the sea roared, it missed him

  4. فلا غَرْوَ أنْ يَنتَشِفن الغَديرا

    وَأَصْغِر بِفُقدانِنا الذّاهِبينَ

    So it's no wonder it sheds tears

    And we feel smaller with those who left

  5. ما عِشتَ نَأتيك ملكاً كَبيرا

    وما أَغمَدَ الدّهرُ ذاكَ الحُسا

    As long as I live, I will come to you a great king

    And as long as fate keeps that sword sheathed

  6. م ما سلّ حدّاك عضْباً بَتُورا

    قسيمُ عُلاك ونِعْمَ القسيم

    A sword that you have never unsheathed in anger

    My friend in good and bad, what a great friend!

  7. أخٌ شاف نزراً وأعطى كثيرَا

    وَكانَ نَظيرك غارَ الزّما

    A brother who gave a little and gave plenty

    And your peer was like a cave of the times

  8. نُ مِن أَنْ يرى لَكَ فيهِ نَظيرا

    فدتْكَ نفوسٌ بِكَ اِستَوطَنت

    Too narrow for you to have a peer in it

    Souls were ransomed for you, and through you

  9. مِنَ الأمْن نوراً وقد كُنَّ بُورا

    بَقيتَ مُعزّاً مِنَ الهالِكينَ

    Found light in safety, when they were in darkness

    You remained a refuge for the doomed

  10. تُوقّى الرَّدَى وتوفَّى الأُجورا

    وغيرُكَ يُمَهِّدُ بُسُطَ العَزاء

    Avoiding harm and fulfilling all rewards

    While others spread out carpets of consolation

  11. ويُولي المُسَلِّين سمعاً وَقُورا

    وَما نَقصَ الدّهْرُ أَعدادَكم

    And give patient listeners a dignified hearing

    Fate has not diminished your numbers

  12. إِذا شَفَّ قطراً وأبقى بُحُورا

    وَلَو أَنصفَ المَجد مَوتاكُمُ

    When it takes a drop and leaves oceans

    If glory did justice to your deaths

  13. لَخَطَّ لَهم في السّماءِ القُبُورا

    حَياتُك أحْيَتْ رميمَ الرّجاءِ

    It would carve tombs for you in the heavens

    Your life revived the withered hopes

  14. وأَمْطَتْ من الجُود ظَهْراً ظَهيرا

    And drew from generosity an ample back
