خَنَسَ الثّعالبُ حين زَمْجَرَ مصحر

مَلأَ البلادَ هماهِماً وَزئيرا

The foxes cowered when the lion roared,

Filling the lands with their whimpers and growls.

تَرَكوا مُشاجَرَةَ الرِّماح لِحاذِقٍ

جَعَلت مَخافتُهُ القُصورَ قُبورا

They left the clashing of spears to the skilled,

His might making their palaces into tombs.

لِرَبيبِ حَربٍ لَم تزلْ فعلاتُهُ

كالرّاء يلزم لفظُهَا التكريرا

For a warrior whose deeds never ceased

To stick to his words like glue.

أسدٌ إِذا ما عاد من ظفرٍ بمفْ

ترسٍ أحدَّ لمثلِهِ أظفورا

A lion, when returning from a victory over

A coward, makes the clawed even more clawed.

يَتَناذَرُ الأَعداء مِنه سَطوة

ملء الزّمان تغيُّظاً وَزَفيرا

The enemies shudder from his might,

Filling time with rage and snarls.

عَرَفوا لِنورِ الدّين وقْعَ وَقائعٍ

وَفّى بِها الإِسلام أَمس نذورا

They knew the strike of the light of faith,

And Islam yesterday paid its vows in full.

أبداً يظافركَ القضاءُ على الّذي

تَبغي فَتَرجِعُ ظافِراً مَنصورا

Destiny will forever grant you victory over those

Who seek evil, so you return triumphant and victorious.

قوَّضت فَاِنتَقع الظّهائر ظُلمةً

وَقَفَلت فَاِشتَعل الديّاجر نورا

You demolished so the fortresses collapsed in darkness,

And unlocked so the strongholds ignited in light.

وَعَلى العَواصِمِ من دفاعكَ عاصِم

ينشي الرّشيدَ وينشرُ المنصورا

And you defend the capitals with an impenetrable defense,

Guiding aright and aiding the supported victor.
