وَلمّا رَأَيتُ الأَصبَحيَّةَ قَنَّعَت

مَفارِقَ شُمطٍ حَيثُ تُلوى العَمائِمُ

When I saw the dawn light, contentment satisfied me

Leaving the twisting of turbans behind

تَرَكتُ دِفاعَ البابِ عَمّا وَراءَهُ

وَقُلتُ صَحيحٌ مَن نَجا وَهُوَ سالِمُ

I left defending the door from what's behind it

And said, "Truly safe is he who gets through unharmed"
