بِنَفسي وَأَهلي مَن إِذا عَرَضوا لَهُ

بِبَعضِ الأَذى لَم يَدرِ كَيفَ يُجيبُ

With my own self and kin, he who if

Affronted by some harm knows not how to reply

وَلَم يَعتَذِر عُذرَ البَريءِ وَلَم يَزَل

لَهُ سَكتَةٌ حَتّى يُقالَ مُريبُ

Nor makes excuse with plea of innocence,

Keeps silent till 'tis said "he bears a grudge."
