1. ودُونَكَها مِثْلَ شَكْلِ النُّهودِ

    وقَدْ ضُمِّخَتْ باحْمِرارِ الخُدودِ

    Her cheeks like ripe pomegranates

    Flushed with pink blush

  2. كَرَيَّا الحَبِيبِ ومَرْأى المُرِيْبِ

    وطَعْمِ الرِّضى بَعد طُولِ الصُّدودِ

    The beloved's joy and suspicious glances

    And the taste of contentment after prolonged aloofness

  3. أتَتْكَ تُردِّدُ طِيبَ ثَنائي

    وإنْ قَصَّرتْ عَن مَداهُ البَعيدِ

    Come to you repeating my words of praise

    Though they fall short of full extent

  4. وتَفْتَرُّ عن مثْلِ طَعْمِ وِدادي

    لِتِلْكَ الحُلى والجَمال الفَريدِ

    And shy from equaling my affection

    For that exquisite beauty and singular grace

  5. فإنْ خَجلَت أوْ عَراها حَياءٌ

    فمِنْ أجْلِ تَقصيرِها عَنْ مَزِيدِ

    If embarrassed or too modest

    It is because they cannot fully express
