إلى كَمْ يُنادِيكَ داعِي الوَتَرْ

فَلَبِّ النِّداءَ ودِنْ بالسَّهَرْ

To how long is the caller of the lute calling you?

Respond to the call and be intimate with vigil

ونَبِّهْ جُفونَكَ من غمضِها

فَقَدْ نَبَّه الرَّوْضَ قَطْرُ المَطَرْ

And awaken your drowsy eyelids

For the rain drops have awakened the garden

أما تُبْصرُ الشُّهْبَ مِثْلَ العُقو

دِ قَدْ نَهَبَ الصُّبْحُ مِنْها دُرَرْ

Do you not see the meteors like spears

The dawn has plundered its pearls from them

وضَمَّ الدُّجا ذَيْلَهُ خِيفَةً

عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الفَجْرِ لَمّا انفَجرْ

And the darkness has gathered its tail in fear

When dawn burst forth

ورَوضتُنا تُجْتَلى كالعرُوسِ

كَساها سَنا الصُّبحِ مثْلَ الخَفرْ

And our meadow is adorned like a bride

Dressed by the dawn in armor

وقَدْ نَظمتْ مائِلاتُ الغصونِ

لآلِىءَ طَلٍّ عَلَيْها انْتَثَرْ

And the bending branches have threaded

Pendants of dangling pearls upon them

وقامَتْ سَماءً لَنا دَوْحَةٌ

تطلَّعَ كالزُّهرِ فِيها الزَّهَرْ

And a dome that overlooks us has stood

In it the flowers look like flowers

فَحُثّ المُدامَ وسَقِّ النَّدامى

وسَلِّ الغرامَ وخَلِّ الفِكَرْ

So spur the wine and serve the repentant

Ignite passion and free the thoughts

وخالِسْ زَمانَكَ غَفْلاتِهِ

فَقَدْ فازَ بالعيشِ مَنْ قَدْ جَسرْ

And rescue your time from its heedlessness

For the one daring has won life
