With a gait like a shy gazelle, so elegant
Her swaying figure nearly bends from gentleness
I wished for her presence, in a garden amidst meadows
Where the soft breeze makes the branches sway
But she turned away and said “Why has your nature grown cold?
What gardens do you still seek, after I have appeared?”
“My paradise, sugar-cane, the trellises and dew
Its leaves, the cypress, the curves and the supple boughs
Its presence, the breeze, the ripples and the song
Its narcissus, the flowers, myrtle and roses
My clothes, my scarves, my prosperity and comforts
My earrings, my jewelry, frills and necklace
My face, my saliva, my breasts and my talk
My glance, my lips, my locks and my cheeks
When I smile with the brilliance of beauty
No sadness is concealed, no beauty appears”
