أيا بدراً بلا كَلَفٍ
به دونَ الوَرَى كلفِي
O full moon without a single spot,
for you alone, above all creation, burns my consuming love—
بما في الطرف من كَحَلٍ
وما في الَخصر من هَيَفِ
for the natural kohl-darkness in your eyes,
and the slender grace of your waist.
أَبِن لي دُرَّ ثَغرِك ما
بهاء الدُّرِّ في الصَّدفِ
Show me the pearls of your mouth—not
within the shell does the splendor of pearls lie.
