O you whose face, like your name, is Ḥasan—beautiful!

If you sleep, heedless of me, I know no sleep.

Even before the first down on your cheek, I was sorely tried,

until it appeared—and multiplied my trials.

O tiny hairs, every one of you a temptation!

Keen minds lose their way in describing your true essence.

Those who found fault with his cheek-down did so foolishly:

it was a bough, and now the bough has put forth leaves.
