يقولون لي ما بالُ عَينك مُذ رَأَت

محاسنَ هذا الظَّبي أدمُعُها هُطلُ

They ask me, "Why do your eyes shed tears

Since seeing the beauty of this gazelle?"

فقلتُ زنت عيني بطلعة وجههِ

فكان لها من صَوب أدمعِها غُسلُ

I said, "My eyes have sinned from his face's radiance,

So their tears have become their purification."
