They tucked the flowers in chambers and domes

And walked in the hair of the night and grew young

The eyelid twisted its years so it sprang up

Thinking the army was mounted horsemen

They made wings the comb of dawn but

Did not travel from the lovely gazelle her veil

When dawn disappeared into the night like

A Yemeni sword that pierced the scabbard

And the bow of a crescent sometimes bent

We saw it shoot an arrow we thought a shooting star

My heart only bid farewell to my skin

The day I bid farewell to Sulayma and the flute

She was veiled in her light and garden

So I saw the sun veiled from the sun

    A red garden dripping sweat

As the wind rustled the bushes

The breath of morning blew its embers

To blaze in the water aflame

And the cheek flowed over its first

As you embroidered the line of writing
