1. هنيئاً فقدْ وافَتْ إلَيْكَ البشائِرُ

    وعزّتْ لأنصارِ النّبيّ عشائِرُ

    Congratulations, good tidings have come to you,

    And the tribes supporting the Prophet have been honored.

  2. علَتْ بكَ للدّين الحَنيفِ وأهْلِهِ

    مراقِبُ في أفْقِ العُلَى ومظاهِرُ

    The true religion and its people have been exalted through you,

    With observatories rising high in the horizon.

  3. لكَ الطّلْعَةُ الغرّاءُ والشّيمةُ التي

    بها المُلْكُ زاهٍ رائِقُ الوصْفِ زاهِرُ

    You have a radiant rise and a noble nature,

    Through which the glorious kingdom dazzles, beautifully described.

  4. فجودُكَ عنْ صوْبِ الغَمامةِ واكِفٌ

    ووجْهُك عن نور الهِدايةِ سافِرُ

    Your generosity pours from the clouds,

    And your face radiates the light of guidance.

  5. ترومُ مُلوكُ الأرضِ شأوَكَ في العُلى

    وكُلٌّ عن القصدِ المؤَمّل قاصِرُ

    The kings of the earth envy your supreme position,

    Yet each falls short of their hopeful goal.

  6. لئنْ عظُمَتْ أقدارُها في العُلى فما

    توازيكَ في العَلْياءِ لكن توازِرُ

    However great their standings in the heights,

    They cannot equal you in supremacy, though they may give support.

  7. ولمّا رأيْتَ الغرْبَ قد فُلّ غرْبُهُ

    وأقْفَرَ من رَبْعِ الخِلافَةِ عامِرُ

    And when you saw the West overthrown,

    And the abode of the Caliphate deserted,

  8. وقامَ وليُّ الكافِرينَ بعِبْئِها

    فكَمْ مُسْلِمٍ قد ذلّ واعتزّ كافِرُ

    And the guardian of the unbelievers took upon himself its burden,

    So many Muslims were humiliated as unbelievers grew arrogant.

  9. تَدارَكتَها بابْنِ الخلائِفِ منْعِماً

    وسَيْبُكَ مبذولٌ وسيفُكَ قاهِرُ

    You came to its aid through the son of the Caliphs, favoring him,

    Your slain will be offered up and your sword overwhelming.

  10. وما هِيَ إلا غادةٌ طالَما دعَتْ

    إماماً لهُ حِلمٌ عن البغي زاجِرُ

    She is but a maiden who long called for

    A leader of wisdom, deterring transgression.

  11. ثَناهُ وفاءُ العهْدِ عنْها فلمْ يزَلْ

    يرُدُّ يَداً عنْ ثوْبِها وهْوَ قادِرُ

    Loyalty to the covenant distracted him from her,

    Though able, he kept withdrawing his hand from her garment.

  12. إلى أنْ شكَتْ ما نالَها وتظلّمَتْ

    لديْكَ وقَدْ دارَتْ عليْها الدوائِرُ

    Until she complained of what befell her and sought justice

    From you, as fate turned against her.

  13. فأوْلَيْتَ من نُعْماكَ ما قدْ تسَحّبَتْ

    على ظَمإٍ فيه السّحابُ المواطِرُ

    So you bestowed on her the best of your favors,

    As clouds pour down on burning thirst.

  14. وجهّزْتَ للنّصْرِ العزيز كتائِباً

    تُسارِعُ نحْو المُلْتَقى وتُبادِرُ

    And you prepared for mighty victory regiments

    That hurry to battle and take the lead.

  15. يطولُ سُجودُ المعْتَدينَ لها ولا

    مَحارِبَ إلا ما أرَتْها الحوافِرُ

    Long will the transgressors bow to her,

    No warrior but what her hooves have trampled.

  16. وللهِ كمْ رامٍ لديْها نِصالُهُ

    كواكِبُ أفْقٍ والقتامُ دَياجِرُ

    By God, what a shooter among her ranks,

    His arrows are stars in the horizon and polished blades.

  17. سهامُ قِسيٍّ كالأهِلّةِ ترْتَمي

    لرَجْمِ العِدى منْها نجومٌ زواهِرُ

    Arrows of unbending firmness, like crescents,

    Raining stones on the enemy, amidst which shine bright stars.

  18. وأرْسَلْتَ في البحْرِ الأساطيلَ نُزّعاً

    تُراوِحُ أقْطارَ العِدَى وتُباكِرُ

    You dispatched fleets at sea impetuously

    Sweeping the lands of enemies and hastening.

  19. يُراوِغُ بعضٌ بعضَها مُتلاعِباً

    كما لعِبَتْ وسْطَ الفلاةِ جآذِرُ

    Some frolic with others playfully

    As horses once frolicked in the wilderness.

  20. وقد جلّلوها بالسّوادِ كأنّما

    مجادِفُها هُدْبٌ وهُنّ نواظِرُ

    They adorned them in black, as if

    Their oars were black hyenas, their watchful eyes ash-colored.

  21. ويَطْفو حَبابُ الماء في جنَباتِها

    كما فُتحَتْ وسْطَ الرّياضِ الأزاهِرُ

    And the foam of the sea floats on their sides

    As gardens amidst meadows bloom.

  22. فَللهِ منها مُنشآتٌ إذا رسَتْ

    لها فَلكٌ بالسّعدِ واليُمْنِ دائِرُ

    By God, they are structures, when anchored,

    The heavens revolve auspiciously around them.

  23. وإنْ هيَ سارَتْ فهْيَ وقْفٌ على الهُدى

    تدافِعُ عن أحزابِهِ وتُصادِرُ

    Whether launched or docked, guidance they guard,

    Defending its partisans and blocking enemies.

  24. طِوالٌ على المبْنَى الرّفيعِ قَصرتَها

    فكانتْ كغيدٍ قد حَوتها المَقاصِرُ

    Tall ships on the lofty building you docked,

    They seemed like a necklace clasped around a palace.

  25. إلى أنْ دعا داعِي العزائم بعْدَ ما

    تعيّنَ مشْروعٌ وبانَتْ معاذِرُ

    Until the voice of determination called, when

    A mission was clear and excuses null.

  26. جلوْتَ لأهْلِ الأرضِ منها عَجائِباً

    لها مثلٌ في الغرْبِ والشرقِ سائرُ

    You revealed to the people of earth wonders from them

    Whose like persists in East and West alike.

  27. وقد حمَلَتْ من كلّ أرْوَعَ باسِلٍ

    نمَتْهُ إلى العَلْياءِ صِيدٌ أكابِرُ

    Bearing the finest of brave warriors

    Raised to supremacy, mighty chiefs.

  28. دَريٌّ بغاراتِ الحُروبِ مُثاقِفٌ

    عَليمٌ بأسْرارِ الخِلافةِ ماهِرُ

    Familiar with the raids of wars, seasoned expert

    In the secrets of the Caliphate, skilled master.

  29. يقوم بأعْباءِ السُّرى وهْوَ قاعِدٌ

    يُقيمُ صَغا الهَيْجاءِ وهْوَ مُسافِرُ

    He carries far-reaching affairs while seated,

    Rectifies the confusion of clamor while traveling.

  30. يغادِي العِدَى في مُلْتَقى الحرْبِ بالتي

    إذا دهِمَتْ ما مِنْهُمُ مَن تُغادِرُ

    He takes the enemy by surprise at the battle front with ones

    Who, when raging, spare no survivors.

  31. ألَمْ يعْلَموا أنّ الخليفةَ يوسُفاً

    مَناقِبُهُ شُهْبَ السّماءِ تُكاثِرُ

    Do they not know the Caliph is like Joseph

    Whose virtues are meteors proliferating the sky?

  32. ألَمْ يَعْلَموا أنّ ابْنَ نصْرٍ حُسامُهُ

    عن الرّوعِ لا وانٍ ولا مُتقاصِرُ

    Do they not know the son of Nasr, his sword

    Frightens enemies without tiring or falling short?

  33. إذا حارَبَ ارْتاعَتْ لِذابِلِهِ العِدَى

    وإنْ سالَمَ ارْتاحَتْ إليْهِ المَنابِرُ

    When battling he horrifies the enemies,

    And when peaceful, the pulpits feel at ease with him.

  34. لناصرِ دينِ اللهِ عزَّ جَنابُهُ

    تُخَلّدُ آثارٌ وتُتْلَى مآثِرُ

    The protector of God’s religion ― his station is lofty,

    Deeds recorded, virtues recited.

  35. على الفوْزِ بالحُسْنى مُعينٌ ومُنْجِدٌ

    وللدّينِ والدّنْيا وليٌّ وناصِرُ

    Aiding success, granting victory,

    The guardian of religion and world united.

  36. ألا إنَّ ملك الغرب لم يُلْفَ بعدَها

    بِشاكٍ ولكِن للصّنيعَةِ شاكِرُ

    Indeed, the king of the West has found none other than him

    Worthy of gratitude and praise for his feat.

  37. بعزّك قد أضحى السّعيدُ ممَلَّكاً

    لهُ النّصْرُ خِدْنٌ والنّجاحُ موازِرُ

    Through your might, he was installed sovereign,

    Triumph is his trove and success his alliance.

  38. وكانت نفوس الخلق ترْتاحُ نحْوَهُ

    وللشّوْقِ ناهٍ في القلوبِ وآمِرُ

    The souls of people feel comfortable with him

    And longing sighs in hearts recommending.

  39. ونادتْ مرينٌ في أقاصِي بِلادِها

    ألا سارِعوا نحْوَ المَعالي وبادِروا

    Morocco proclaimed from its distant lands:

    “Hasten to the heights, exceed and take initiative!”

  40. ألا إنها أسرارُ غَيْبٍ تحجّبَتْ

    تُقَصِّرُ عنْ إدْراكِهِنَّ الضّمائِرُ

    By God, hidden mysteries have been concealed

    Minds fall short of grasping their secrets.

  41. أبى الله إلا أن يكُفَّ العِدَى وهلْ

    يُغادَرُ في المُلْكِ المُهنّأِ غادِرُ

    God refused but to suppress the enemies ― could

    The ungrateful in a fortunate kingdom remain?

  42. وما الغدر إلا خُطّةٌ ذَلّ رَبُّها

    كَفى بأمينِ المُلْكِ أنْ عزّ طاهِرُ

    Betrayal is but a disgraced scheme,

    The Caliph’s integrity is enough, glorified and pure.

  43. وإنّ وليَّ الغدر في كلِّ حالَةٍ

    عن الرُشْدِ ساهٍ أو منَ الرّوْعِ ساهِرُ

    The patron of betrayal, in any case,

    Deviates from righteousness or stays up wary.

  44. هو الدهر أبدى ذلَّهُ بعْدَ عِزِّه

    وأظْهَرَ ما أخْفَتْهُ منهُ السّرائِرُ

    It is fate that always disgraced him after his glory

    Revealing what secrets hid within him.

  45. وأوْرد آراء النجاح بزَعْمِهِ

    موارِدَها لو أمْكَنتْهُ المَصادِرُ

    And cited views of prosperity in its scheme

    As if its resources enabled it to give access.

  46. وهلْ تنفعُ الأبصارُ إن لمْ يَبنْ لها

    منَ الرّشدِ ما تُهْدي إلَيْها البصائِرُ

    Can visions benefit without the guidance

    Of insight to guide perceptions?

  47. وهلْ دان بالتوحيد مَنْ كان دائِماً

    يُوالِي مُوالي شِرْكِه ويُظاهِرُ

    Can one who consistently sides with his idolators

    Ever believe in the oneness of God?

  48. فهُنّئْتَهُ صُنْعاً جَميلاً خَطيرُهُ

    يرُدُّ الذي والَى العِدَى وهْوَ صاغِرُ

    You did well to return him, disgraced,

    Having supported those who allied the enemies in decadence.

  49. وهُنّئْتَ يا موْلى الخلائِفِ مَوْسِماً

    أتى منْهُ بالبُشْرى لبابِكَ زائِرُ

    Congratulations, my master of Caliphs, on a season

    That brought glad tidings to your door anew.

  50. ترحّل شهْرُ الصّومِ أكرَمَ ظاعِنٍ

    بما قُمْتَهُ منْ حقّه لكَ شاكِرُ

    The month of fasting, most generous host, bids farewell

    Thanking you duly for honoring its rights.

  51. وأقْبَلَ عيدُ الفِطْرِ أشْرَفَ قادِمٍ

    يُوالِي حَثيثاً سيْرَهُ ويُبادِرُ

    And the Holiday of Breaking Fast, most noble visitor, draws near

    Closely succeeding, hastily keeping pace.

  52. لمالَقَةٍ جدّدْتَ عهداً حميدُهُ

    مَدى الدّهْرِ لا يَبْلى ولا هوَ داثِرُ

    For a blessed reunion renewing its felicitous promise

    Enduring for ages without decay or loss.

  53. حلَلْتَ بمغناها وسعدُكَ واضِحٌ

    وحِزْبُك منصورٌ وجُنْدُكَ ظافِرُ

    You have arrived at its anthems―your joy apparent,

    Your party is victorious and your troops prevailing.

  54. وأوْحشت من دار الخِلافةِ مَنزِلاً

    حَديثُ عُلاهُ شائِعٌ مُتواتِرُ

    You have furnished the abode of the Caliphate a new lodging

    Whose towering heights are widely circulated.

  55. سترْجعُ والصّنعُ الجميلُ مُحالِفٌ

    ومُلْكُكَ للأمْلاكِ ناهٍ وآمِرُ

    Regained, your fine work fortuitous

    Your kingdom supreme in all domains

  56. وتبْقى على مرّ الجديدينِ ناصِراً

    وسعْدُكَ فيهِمْ مالَهُ الدّهْرَ آخرُ

    Remaining, despite the passage of generations, as a pillar of support

    While your good fortune therein is without parallel or match.

  57. أمَولايَ خذْها كالحَديقةِ كلّما

    يهبُّ نسيمٌ من ثنائِكَ عاطِرُ

    My Master, take it as a garden―whenever

    A breeze blows from your praise, it smells of musk.

  58. وأُهْدي لبحْرِ الجودِ منها قلائِداً

    ومنْ عجَبٍ للبحْر تُهْدَى الجواهِرُ

    And I present to the sea of your munificence this string of pearls,

    How outlandish that to the sea jewels are gifted!

  59. إذا اللهُ قد أثْنى عليْكَ فما الذي

    يقولُ بَليغٌ أو يُنَظّمُ شاعِرُ

    When God Himself has praised you, what can

    An eloquent orator or skilled poet possibly say?
