أبْدَعني النّاصِرُ ابْنُ نصْرٍ

فجِئتُ وَفْقَ اقتِراحِهِ

The creator endowed me, al-Nasir son of Nasr

So I came to be according to his suggestion

فحُمْرَتي في البَياضِ وردٌ

أو زَهَرٌ في بِطاحِهِ

My redness amid the white is a rose

Or a blossom in its valley
