ثَوبُ الشَبابِ عَلَيَّ اليَومَ بَهجَتُهُ
فَسَوفَ تَنزَعُهُ عَنّي يَدُ الكِبَرِ
The garb of youth cloaks me in joy today
Yet old age’s hand will strip it away
أَنا اِبنُ عِشرينَ لا زادَت وَلا نَقُصَت
إِنَّ اِبنَ عِشرينَ مِن شَيبٍ عَلى خَطَرِ
At twenty I stay, no less and no more
Though twenty with hints of grey in store
