1. وَلَهٌ نابِهٌ وَخَطبٌ جَليلُ

    بَل رَزايا لَهُنَّ عِبءٌ ثَقيلُ

    He has a bright, splendid oration,

    Yet their burdens for them are heavy,

  2. بَل غَرامٌ مُبادِهٌ بَل دَهاري

    س عِظامٌ وُقوعُهُنَّ عَظيمُ

    Rather it is a concealed love, rather it is homesickness,

    Their falling is painful to the bones.

  3. إِنَّ بِالقاعِ مِن تَنوفٍ مَحَلّاً

    لَيسَ لِلمَكرُماتِ عَنهُ حَويلُ

    In Al-Qa with plenty of wealth,

    There is no protection for the respected ones from him.

  4. جالَ فيهِ الرَدى يَميلُ قِداحاً

    أَحرَزَت خَصلَها وَفاتَ الخَليلُ

    The monitor came prancing, leaning his spear,

    She obtained her trait and the friend was lost.

  5. لَم تَدَع لِلعُلى أَكُفُّ المَنايا

    مَن بِهِ يَعتَلي وَلا يَستَطيلُ

    Death did not leave any power for the eminent ones,

    By which he ascends and becomes long.

  6. يا بَني مالِك بنِ فَهمٍ قَتيلاً

    لا يُباريهِ في الأَنامِ قَتيلُ

    O sons of Malik bin Fahm the killed one,

    None amongst the people equals him in being killed.

  7. أَيُّ عِزٍّ قَد قَدَّموهُ لِرُمحٍ

    مِنكُم لَم يُصَدَّ وَهوَ ذَليلُ

    What glory they presented to a lance,

    That was not prevented from them while it was humiliated.

  8. أَيُّ طَرفٍ سَما إِلَيكُم بِكَيدٍ

    لَم تَرُدّوهُ وَهوَ مِنكُم كَليلُ

    What eye aimed any plot against you,

    That you did not return it while it was little from you.

  9. أَيُّ حَدٍّ كافَحتُموهُ بِحَدٍّ

    مِنكُمُ لَم يَدَعهُ وَهوَ فَليلُ

    What limit did you oppose with a limit,

    That did not leave it while it was weak.

  10. كُنتُمُ وَالكَثيرُ فيكُم قَليلٌ

    وَالعَظيمُ الخَطيرُ فيكُم ضَئيلُ

    You were many while the many amongst you were few,

    And the great, dangerous one amongst you was insignificant.

  11. كُنتُمُ أَهلَ سَطوَةٍ إِن تَصَدَّت

    مالَ وَجهُ الحِمامِ حَيثُ تَميلُ

    You were the people of tyranny, if

    The direction of the pigeon turns to where it inclines.

  12. أَقليلٌ عَديدُكُم فَتَقولوا

    إِنَّنا في الوَغى نَفيرٌ قَليلُ

    Are you few in number so you say,

    “We are few in the struggle?”

  13. أَم ضِعافٌ عَن ثَأرِكُم فَتَلَذّوا

    مَشرَبَ الذُلِّ وَالضَعيفُ الذَليلُ

    Or weak from taking revenge so you enjoyed

    Drinking humiliation while the weak is humiliated.

  14. أَنِساء يُنعى لَهنَّ بعولٌ

    إِنَّ سِترَ المُحصناتِ البُعولُ

    Women who, their husbands were mourned,

    Indeed, their husbands were their protectors.

  15. أَم عَبيدٌ لِراشدٍ ولِموسى

    أَيُّ هذي الأَصنافِ أَنتُم فَقولوا

    Or slaves to Rashid and Musa,

    Which one of these groups are you? So, speak up.

  16. ليسَ يُنعى لَها اِمرُؤٌ وَسَّدَتهُ

    مِعصَمَيها الوَهنانَةُ العُطبولُ

    No man was mourned for her and no tears were shed

    As her weak, bent elbows sufficed her.

  17. لا وَلا المُحسِنُ الظُنونَ بِرَيب الد

    دَهرِ أَن سَوفَ يَنثَني وَيَدولُ

    Does not the good opinion of fleeting fortune

    Expect that it will bend and turn.

  18. يا بَني مالِكٍ عَقَلتُم لِساني

    كَيفَ يَمشي المُقَيَّدُ المَعقولُ

    O sons of Malik, you have tied my tongue,

    How can the tied, reasonable one walk? If you take the path of action,

  19. إِن سَلَكتُم إِلى الفِعالِ سَبيلاً

    وَضُحَت لي إِلى المَقالِ سَبيلُ

    The path to speech became clear for me,

    Or if you refused, I stopped questioning: can the extent of my questioning reach the intended?

  20. أَو تَأَبَّيتُم شُكلتُ عَنِ الجَر

    يِ وَهَل يَبلُغُ المَدى المَشكولُ

    Where are the branches of glory from taking revenge? Or where is its expected cave?

    Where is Ma’n while they, when affliction flares up

  21. أَينَ عَن ثارِها هَناةُ فُروعُ ال

    عِزِّ أَم أَينَ كَهفُهُ المَأمولُ

    Lions whose panic runs from them.

    And Banu Jahzam and they are the respected mountain whose extended branches became strong.

  22. أَينَ مَعنٌ وَهُم إِذا اِستَحمَسَ البَأ

    سُ لُيوثٌ تَنجابُ عَنها الفُيولُ

    Where are the claims of Banu Sulaymah, the tall,

    Their young and their old men?

  23. وَبَنمو جَهضَمٍ وَهُم جَبَلُ العِز

    زِ الَّذي عَزَّ فَرعُهُ المُستَطيلُ

    And Al Jaramiz, our impenetrable fortress, our pillar,

    And to whom in struggle we resort.

  24. أَينَ دَعوى بَني سُلَيمةَ أَطوا

    دُ المَعالي فتيانُها وَالكُهولُ

    And the dissenters by whom the humans' panic

    Is warded off and who is pouring, bending.

  25. وَالجَراميزُ حِصنُنا الأَمنَعُ الرُك

    نِ وَمَن في الوَغى إِلَيهِ نَؤولُ

    And pigeons whose leader, when none hoots

    Except the concealer, the finicky one.

  26. وَالعُقاةُ الَّذين يُستَدفَعُ اليَأ

    سُ بِهِم وَهوَ مُقمَطِرّ مَهيلُ

    And our horsemen on whose horses,

    From their war, blood flows.

  27. وَحُمامٌ حُماتُها حينَ لا يَع

    طِفُ إِلّا المُضَمّرُ الخَنشَليلُ

    And the protectors of time from the family of Dahman

    When humans and stallions are brought out.

  28. وَفَراهيدُنا الَّذينَ عَلى الرَو

    ضَةِ مِن خَيلِهِم دِماءٌ تَسيلُ

    And my pillars from the family of Seyyid when

    The war shimmers and death descends.

  29. وَحُماةُ الزَمانِ مِن آلِ دَهما

    نَ إِذا أُبرِزَ البُرى وَالحُجولُ

    And Sulaymah, the brave, when he who arms himself with a coat of mail and the medium spear put it on.

    And Sharik whose young men when no weapon benefits

  30. وَعِمادي مِن آلِ سيدٍ إِذا ما

    شَمَّرَ الحَرب وَالمَنايا نُزولُ

    Except the flexible and smooth Indian sword.

    And the horse keepers for the bushes, the sons of Qasmil.

  31. وَسُلَيمى الباسِلونَ إِذا أَب

    لَسَ ذو العَدِّ وَالنَجيدُ البَسولُ

    If you fear the loss of bushes.

    And Banu Amm from Judayd specifically

  32. وَشَريكٌ فِتيانُها حينَ لا يَن

    فَعُ إِلّا المُهَنَّدُ المَسلولُ

    And my pillars in every matter are plenty.

    And Banu Hazir, my hand and my tongue,

  33. وَالمَداريكُ لِلذُحولِ بَنو قَس

    مَل إِن خِفتَ أَن يَفوتَ الذُحولُ

    And my Indian sword, the polished.

    O sons of Malik bin Fahm, the killed one

  34. وَبَنو العَمِّ مِن جُدَيدٍ خُصوصاً

    وَعِمادي في كُلِّ أَمرٍ نَفيلُ

    Their honor lies in Daharis that cries.

    Indeed, in the two gardens, he perished bent over,

  35. وَبَنو حاضِرٍ يدي وَلِساني

    وَحُسامي المُهَنَّدُ المَصقولُ

    No less a person rested there killed.

    Do the blood spill out of fear O people?

  36. يا بَني مالِك بنِ فَهمٍ قَتيلاً

    بِدَهاريسَ عِزُّهنَّ التَبولُ

    Neither perdition nor blood is sought.

    And in the Tawad of Oman, while amongst you

  37. إِنَّ بِالرَوضَتَينِ هاماً نِزافاً

    لَم يُقَل مَن ثَوى هُناكَ قَتيلُ

    A great number of honor and glory lies.

    For Banu Assama, elevation upon the lowly

  38. أَتضيعُ الدِماءُ يا قَومُ فَزعاً

    لا بَواء وَلا دَمٌ مَطلولُ

    With what you obtained from humiliation, suffice.

    Their hearts did not become disgusted and their inhabited place

  39. وَبِطَودَي عُمانَ وَالسَيف مِنكُم

    عَدَدٌ كاثِرٌ وَعِزٌّ بَجيلُ

    Became the open space for their family and animals.

    Do you reckon to equal whom they likened

  40. لِبَني السامَةَ السُمُوُّ عَلى الخَس

    فِ بِما نالَكُم مِنَ الذُلِّ نيلوا

    By avoiding the likeness of the like? You mustavoid them.

    O son of Hama, determination is for the eminent one,

  41. لاِشمَأَزَّت قُلوبُها وَلَأَضحى

    نابئَ الأَهلِ رَبعُها المَأهولُ

    So, do not slacken when the trains are pulled.

    This is not the state of the enraged:

  42. أَفَتَرضَونَ أَن تُساموا الَّذي سي

    موهُ عَن سومِ مِثلِهِ سَتَصولوا

    A lying place, singing, blossoms and inclusions.

    And an early rising, spending the night chatting,

  43. يا اِبنَ حَمحامٍ لِلعُلى شَمِّرِ الذي

    لَ فَلا حينَ أَن تُجَرَّ الذُيولُ

    Grilling, shedding blood and carrying.

    But his clothes when misfortune wraps in darkness,

  44. لَيسَ شَأن المُوَتَّرينَ مِهادٌ

    وَغِناءٌ وَمزهَرٌ وَشَمولُ

    Is the clothes of black twisted wool.

    And his lying place is a piece of woolen fabric above a shoulder,

  45. وَصبوحٌ مُباكَرٌ وَغَبوقٌ

    وَشِواءٌ وَدَرمَكٌ وَنَشيلُ

    Whose bed is the rough ground of the desert.

    And his boon companion is the revolutionary whose sword’s edge angered him

  46. إِنَّما ثَوبُهُ إِذا اِعتَكَرَ الإِظ

    لام ثَوبُ الدُجُنَّةِ المَسدولُ

    And the protector of bandits, a humiliated cheek.

    And his dining companion is a she-goat, mother of a baby goat

  47. وَمِهاداهُ نُمرُقٌ فَوقَ كَفلٍ

    عَرشُهُ غَيهَمُ البِجادِ مَثولُ

    And chased meat, the broken down, the wilted.

    That is the revenge not the one which

  48. وَنَديماهُ داثِرُ الحَدِّ عَضب

    وَأَمينُ الفُصوصِ نَهدٌ ذَليلُ

    The morning nap dismissed and it became soft and trailing.

    O Sulayman, prepare the determination forward,

  49. وَأَكيلاهُ نَهدَةٌ أُمُّ أَجرٍ

    وَالطَريدُ العَشَنَّقُ الهُذبولُ

    You will attain the bond drawn tight and twisting.

    O horseman, you are the star of endeavors,

  50. ذَلِكَ الثَأرُ لا الَّذي وَهَّلَتهُ

    نَومَةُ الصُبحِ فَهوَ رَخوٌ مَذيلُ

    You are the preparedness, the protectors, and the pillars.

    O Sulaym son of Malik who perished, the master, the pillar, the killed one guided us.

  51. يا سُلَيمانُ جَرِّدِ العَزمَ قُدماً

    تُدرِكِ الوِترَ مُنجداً وَهوَ نولُ

    I swore an oath to avenge him,

    In which there is no relief for the swearer.

  52. يا فَراهيدُ أَنتَ نَجمُ المَساعي

    أَنتُمُ العُدَّةُ الحُماةُ النُصولُ

    If death had turned away from him he would have become

    A leader followed by procession after procession.

  53. يا سُلَيمَ بنَ مالِك المُنتَمي قَد

    هَدَّنا السَيِّدُ العَميدُ القَتيلُ

    The blood will not be lost as long as

    Amongst them there is a participant and beautiful endurance.

  54. قُدّ أَوصاله حَلَفتُ يَمينا

    لَيسَ فيها لِمُقسِمٍ تَحليلُ

    What day is for Rashid and Musa?

    That day, if you know is heavy.

  55. لَو تَغاضَت عَنهُ المَنونُ لِأَضحى

    يَهتَدي بِالرَعيلِ عَنهُ الرَعيلُ

    A day in which closeness of relations does not benefit,

    A day in which the excuse with it is not accepted.

  56. ما تَضيعُ الدِماءُ ما طالَبَتها

    فيهِمُ سُهمَةٌ وَصَبرٌ جَميلُ

    So Allah has made wretched he who prevented panic from us,

    Wherever the insignificant takes with the insignificant.

  57. أَيُّ يَومٍ لِراشِدٍ وَلِموسى

    ذاكَ يَومٌ لَو تَعلَمونَ ثَقيلُ

  58. يَومَ لا يَنفَعُ اِتِّصالٌ بِقُربى

    يَومَ لا العُذرُ عِندَهُ مَقبولُ

  59. فَلَحى اللَهُ مانِعَ الرَوعِ مِنّا

    حَيثُ يَستَصحِبُ الضَئيلَ الضَئيلُ
