يا سائِلاً عمّا يُذَكَّرُ في الفَتى

لا غَيرهُ عَن صادِقٍ لَكَ يُخبِرُ

O questioner, about what makes a young man masculine

None other than a truthful one can inform you

رَأسُ الفَتى وَجَبينُهُ وَمَقذُّهُ

وَالثَغرُ مِنهُ وَأَنفُهُ وَالمِنخَرُ

The head of a young man, his forehead and his hairline

His mouth, his nose, his nostrils

وَالبَطنُ وَالفَمُ ثُمَّ ظُفرٌ بَعدَهُ

نابٌ وَخَدٌّ بِالحَياءِ مُعَصفَرُ

His abdomen, his mouth, then after it his fingernails

A canine tooth and a cheek blushing with shyness

وَالثَديُ وَالشِبرُ المَديدُ وَناجِذٌ

وَالباعُ وَالذقنُ الَّذي لا يُنكَرُ

His chest, his firm forearm, and his shoulder blades

His arm and his beard that cannot be denied

هَذي الجَوارِحُ لا تُؤَنِّثها فَما

فيهِ لَها حَظٌّ إِذا ما تُذكَرُ

These limbs cannot be feminized, for they

Have no share in femininity when mentioned
