جامٌ يَكونُ مِنَ العَقيقِ الأَحمَرِ
فُرِشَت قَرارَتُهُ بِمِسكٍ أَذفَرِ
A cup made of red agate
Lined with fragrant musk
خَرَطَ الرَبيعُ مِثالَهُ فَأَقامَهُ
بَينَ الرِياضِ عَلى قَضيبٍ أَخضَرِ
Spring fashioned its likeness and stood it
Among the gardens on a green twig
وَالريحُ تَتَركُهُ إِذا هَبَّت بِهِ
كَالطافِحِ المُتَمائلِ المُتَكَسِّرِ
The wind leaves it be when it blows upon it
Like an overflowing and swaying, splintering stream
فَتَراهُ يَركَعُ ثُمَّ يَرفَعُ رَأسَهُ
مُتَمائِلاً كَالعاشِقِ المُتَحَيِّرِ
You see it bow then raise its head
Swaying like a bewildered lover
