رُبَّ لَيلٍ أَطالَهُ أَلَمُ الشَو
قِ وَفَقدُ الرُقادِ وَهوَ قَصيرُ
Many a night whose length was made long by the pain of love and loss of sleep, yet it was brief
In it the worries of passion raced with thoughts
راعَ فيهِ الكَرى تَباريحُ شَوقٍ
وَخَيالٌ جُنحَ الظَلامِ يَزورُ
And imagination, on the wings of darkness, paid a visit
A scene lit up and narrated to its teeth
راقَهُ مَنظَرٌ أَنارَ فَأَورى
لِسَناهُ ضَوء الصَباحِ المُنيرُ
The radiant light of dawn
A young lion that kills the fierce lions -
رَشَأٌ يَقتُلُ الأُسودَ غَريرٌ
كَيفَ يُردي الأُسودَ ظَبيٌ غَريرُ
How can a young lion destroy the fierce lions?
