It is right for my eyes to aim their tears,
Though the slanderers have bared their fangs.
I turned towards them an eye hot with pain,
While its humanity was sunk in the sea of tears.
In the morning, when their departure dragged on-
The open spaces of al-Fayyaf, and the lofty sand dunes.
O Sabaak! Do not let it get the better of you, now that
The gleam of gray hair has appeared, illuminating the parting.
