قُل لعين الأماثلِ الأعيان

وَمَحلِّ الإنسانِ من إنساني

Say to the eye of ideals, the best of men,

And seat of man from manhood,

يا سِراجاً أسنى منَ الشّمس والشّمْ

سُ سِراجٌ قد جاءَ في القرآنِ

O lamp brighter than sun and moon,

A lamp that came in the Quran,

خُذْهُ كحلاً مثلَ السيوفِ صِقالاً

وفِرنداً يروقُ في الأجفانِ

Take it as kohl like polished swords,

And a cure that soothes the eyelids,

حجرٌ كَسْرُهُ يَفوقُ سَنا الأكسي

رِ فعلاً في العينِ أو في العيانِ

A stone whose fragments surpass spearheads

In effect in the eye or in reality,

ألفُ عَينٍ تقيمُها حبّةُ من

هُ قياماً قد صحَّ بالبرهانِ

A thousand eyes erected by a seed from it

Erected with proof,

إنْ تُعظِّمْ مثالَهُ في حِجاز

كانَ هذا مُعَظّماً في أصبهانِ

If you revere its example in Hejaz,

This would be revered in Isfahan.
