كم قيلَ لي إذْ دُعيتُ شمساً
لا بُدَّ للشْمسِ من طُلوعِ
How often I was told, when I was called a sun:
“A sun must surely rise.”
فَكانَ ذاكَ الطُّلوعُ داءً
يَرقا إلى السّطحِ منْ ضلوعي
But that rising proved to be an illness,
Climbing from my ribs to the surface.
