1. هزَ النّسيمُ معاطِفَ الأغصان

    فانشقَ قلبُ شَقائق النُّعمان

    The breeze shook the robes of the branches

    And split the heart of the anemones

  2. وَتَبَسَمَ الروضُ الأريضُ عن الرُّبى

    بالأقحوان تبسُّمَ الجذلان

    The meadow smiled, bare from grass

    With pomegranate flowers, the jujubes smiled

  3. وأبانَت العجمُ الفصاحُ عن الجوى

    والشّوق صَدْحاً في غصون البان

    The foreign plants revealed the longing from the passion

    And the yearning chirped in the jujube branches

  4. يا حبّذا وادي السّدير فإنْهُ

    مأوى المها ومراتِعُ الغزلان

    O how wonderful the valley of Sudeir is, for it is

    A refuge for the oryx and a pasture for the gazelles

  5. وادٍ يزورُ الطيرُ ناضرَ روضه

    زمناً فَيُلهيه عن الأوطان

    A valley visited by the birds its blossoming meadow

    For a while distracts them from homelands

  6. يا سَعدُ قد جاء الربيعُ وأَصَبَحتْ

    تلكَ الجنانُ مواطِنَ الولدان

    O how fortunate, spring has come and those gardens

    Have become places for the children

  7. وغدا جليلُ الطير يهتُفُ بالضحى

    بغرائب الأنغام والألحان

    And tomorrow the plentiful birds will chant at dawn

    With wondrous melodies and tunes

  8. فاتَبعُه بالأوتار حساً مُطرباً

    قلباً يَهُمُّ إليه بالطيران

    So I will follow it with a charming lyre

    A heart that yearns to it with flying

  9. من كُلِّ كرْكيّ تسامى صاعداً

    كالمبتغي ذكراً لَدى كيوان

    From every mound ascending like

    One seeking mention at Mount Qaf

  10. لَطَم السّحابَ جَنَاحهُ بمثاله

    وأجابَ صَوْتَ الرّعد منه بثان

    Its wings hit the clouds in its image

    And the thunder answered back its duplicate

  11. وإوَزُّهُ مِثلُ الخريدَة صَدْرُها

    فَعْم وَجؤجُؤها بديعُ معانِ

    Its plumage is like the breast of a partridge

    Clear and its cooing is beautiful in meaning

  12. خنساءُ واضحةُ الجبين صَباحَة

    جيداءُ تنظرُ نَظْرَةَ النّشوانِ

    A lively grouse in the morning clear of forehead

    A beauty who gazes with the look of the sleepless

  13. تَمشي فَتَسُبرُ كلَّ روضٍ ناضِرٍ

    رَعْياً بِمنقارِ مِنَ العُقيانِ

    She walks around investigating every blossoming meadow

    Grazing with her beak from the cranberries

  14. أو لَغْلَغ حَسَنُ الشّياة مُدَبّج

    مثلَ العروس تُزَف ذا ألوانِ

    Or a colorful nightingale beautifully warbling

    Like a bride adorned with colors

  15. وأنيسةٍ وشّى نَهارَ أديمِها

    ليل نجومُ ظَلامه العينانِ

    And a friendly one who cheered up the lifelong morning

    The stars of its darkness are two eyes

  16. وألتّم ذو الحُسن الأتّم كيانُهُ

    در ومن شيحٍ لَهُ رجلانِ

    And the most beautiful of beauty completed his existence

    A pearl and coral that has two legs

  17. وتخالُ خالاً لاحَ في منقاره

    من عَنْبَرٍ مُلِهي فؤاد العاني

    You'd think there was amber in its beak

    Tempting the heart of passionate lover

  18. وَِشُبَيْطرٍ ألِفَ الجبالَ تَرَفُّعاً

    وَسَطَا بقوته على الثعبانِ

    And a peacock who befriended the mountains in loftiness

    And soared in its strength over the snake

  19. أو مثل كي للوَقار كأنّه

    قاضٍ يُدينُ بُحكمه الخصمانِ

    Or like a partridge for dignity as if it is

    A judge who rules between the disputants

  20. أو مثل غُرنوقٍ شريفٍ لم يَزَل

    بِذؤابتيه مُشَرفَ الأقرانِ

    Or like a noble demoiselle crane that never stopped

    Being the honorable one amongst its peers

  21. والصّوغُ صِيغَ مِنَ الملاحَة كُلّها

    فَلِذاكَ يُسبي ناظِرَ الإنسانِ

    And the goldfinch created from all beauty

    Thus captivating the onlooker’s eye

  22. أو مثلُ عَنّازٍ يُريك مدارعاً

    سواداً كمثل مدارع الرُّهبان

    Or like a starling showing cultivated fields

    Black like the cultivated fields of monks

  23. كالليل إلا أنَّ أبيضَ صَدره

    صُبح تَشَعْشَعَ واضِحاً لِعيانِ

    Except its white chest at dawn glittered

    Clearly visible to all eyes

  24. أو حُبْرُجٍ متَدرْعٍ نورَ الضُّحى

    مصَفَرَّ لون مثل ذي اليَرَقانِ

    Or a coated francolin the light of dawn

    Yellowed its color like one with jaundice

  25. أو مُرزمٍ قَدْ قَدَّ من شَفَق الدجى

    ثوباً لَهُ كالورد أحمرَ قانِ

    Or a painted bunting who donned at the dusk

    A gown for it is red like a pink rose

  26. أو مثل نَسْرٍ قد تَسَرْبَلَ حُلةً

    دكناءَ دونَ سُمُوَه النسرانِ

    Or like an eagle who dressed up in a robe

    Dark without the eminence of eagles

  27. أو كالعُقاب أخي العقاب بمنسرٍ

    وبمخلبٍ يُفري بِحَدِّ سِنانِ

    Or like a hawk, brother of hawks, with beak

    And claws that scratch with sharp teeth

  28. طيرٌ غدا ملِك الطيور لأنه

    زَنكُ المليك الصَالِح السُلطانِ

    A bird that became king of birds for he is

    The glorious king, the good Sultan

  29. أعني فتى المنصور ذا النصر الذي

    أردى الطغاة بذلة وَهَوانِ

    I mean the young Al-Mansour the victorious one

    Who destroyed the tyrants in humiliation and defeat
