عندي حشائشُ كانتْ

للنّاظِرينَ رياضاً

I had herbs that were

For onlookers, gardens

تُلهي العيونَ وصارتْ

تُزَوِّلُ الأمراضا

That delight the eyes and became

Alleviators of illnesses

وَلَستُ بالدُّرِّ عنها

في بَيْعِها مُعتاضا

And I am not reluctant

To sell them for pearls
