1. يا أيها الشرّفُ الذي قد قُلتُ إذ

    ضَربوهُ ظُلماً والورى تَتَظلّمُ

    O noble one, whom I have said, when

    They unjustly struck him, and the world complains

  2. بمقارعٍ في شَيْبها هَرمُ الفتى

    مَبْرومةٍ فَهْيَ البلاءُ المبَرمُ

    With the blows, in its old age the youth grows decrepit

    Afflicted, so it is the absolute affliction

  3. لا يسلَمُ الشّرفُ الرفيع من الأذى

    حتى يراقَ على جوانبه الدّمُ

    Honor does not remain unharmed from harm

    Until blood flows down its sides
