and the proof was established for him in his quest.

  2. He grew pure through that by which his Creator purified him,

yet his claim concerning his lineage holds true.

  3. He did justice to the good through acknowledgment, confessing

what he knew thereof—of knowledge and lineage.

  4. He prepared a thousand, yet did not fully reckon it; know, then, that

the shortfall is an attribute of his, stemming from himself and his toil.

  5. Where are the three among the thousand he prepared for him?

So do not stop at what he knows of its cause.

  6. For every person possesses a knowledge unknown to

another besides him; that knowledge is in his books.

  7. And whoever has fully realized every discipline of adab,

every knowledge seen to come from him springs from his adab.
