ألبستُ بنتي دنيا

لباسَ دينٍ وتقوى

I wore my daughter the dress of this world

A dress of faith and piety

عسى أراها على ما

قد كلَّف الله تقوى

I hope to see her on what

God has enjoined piety

فإن دارَك هذي

دارُ اختبارٍ وبلوى

For your abode here

Is an abode of trial and affliction

إذا شربتَ بنفس

ماءَ الحياةِ لتروى

When you drink with a soul

The water of life to quench your thirst

إنّ التنفس فيه

أهنى وأمرى وأروى

Breathing in it

Is most delightful, beautiful and satisfying
