1. My sin is grave, and my sin never leaves me;

    yet my sin is nothing but my love for my Master.

  2. Were it not for me, I would not dwell in a secret in which I rejoice—

    a secret of the Beloved whom they would know, were it not for me.

  3. He is bliss to my heart, and its torment,

    when He reveals Himself to us in the abode of our earthly life.

  4. And He is the bliss after which no hardship follows,

    when He appears to me in my death and my life.

  5. And on the Dune, and in Eden—my soul has come to know

    that the Dune of Visitation is surely my dwelling place.

  6. When I am realized in the Meaning, and there is ours

    a dominion to wield—for the Real is my Meaning.

  7. Through Him I become a chief, yet humble; and through Him

    I become one possessed of dominion in my hereafter.

  8. By God, if my two eyes were to look upon anyone

    besides Him, my eyes would never cease to weep for Him.

  9. Indeed, toward God we are bound from the first, at our creation;

    and in the intermediate realms He is beheld at my final end.
