1. إنَّ المقرَّبَ من يستعبد الدولا

    ليس المقرَّبُ من تزهو له الدولُ

    The one brought near who enslaves regimes

    Is not the one brought near whom regimes boast of

  2. إنَّ المقرَّبَ من يعطيه مشهدُه

    ما كان من بخلٍ فيها ومن مدد

    The one brought near who shows him his scene

    Was neither miserly nor limited in his bounty

  3. وليس يدركه فيما يريد بها

    مما يريد إذا ما شاء من ملل

    And he cannot attain what he wants from it

    What he wants when he so wishes to be wearied

  4. عن ربه لا عن أسبابٍ له نصبت

    كناظري في مسير الشمس أو زحل

    From his Lord not from means set up for him

    Like my two eyes upon the sun or Saturn's path

  5. بما قد أودع فيها الله من حكم

    لكنها تنتهي فيه إلى أجلِ

    For God has deposited wisdom in them

    But they end in a fixed term

  6. والأمر لا يتناهى حكمه أبدا

    دنيا وآخرة فكن على وَجَل

    The command of His wisdom never ends

    For in His knowledge is what no one knows

  7. فإنَّ في علمه ما ليس يعرفه

    وليس يدريه ذو فكر وذو حيل

    And what no intelligent or ingenious one realizes

    And work for Him and you will attain both worlds

  8. واعمل عليه تُصِبْ دنيا وآخرة

    وإنما الفوزُ في العقبى مع العمل

    For success in the sequel only comes through action

    Truly he who neglects his end is wretched

  9. إنَّ المفرِّط في أخراه في نَكَدٍ

    وصاحبُ الحزمِ في نعمى وفي جذل

    While the prudent one enjoys bliss and plenty

    And all who attain things through insight

  10. وكلُّ مَن يدركِ الأشياء عن نظرٍ

    فلستُ أخليه عن دخلٍ وعن ملل

    I do not deprive of input and possession

    When God's light descended, our Creator

  11. لما تنزَّل نورُ الله خالقنا

    إلى الزجاجة والمصباح في المثل

    Upon the glass lamp as in the example

    Our Lord called us from above the heavens

  12. نادى بنا ربنا من فوق أرقعة

    سبع يعرّفني بأنَّ ذلك لي

    Informing me that is for me

    When the Kalim sought to behold Him but the witness

  13. لما ابتغى رؤيةً منه الكليمُ وما

    زال الشهودُ له عيناً ولم يزل

    Remained an eyewitness and did not cease

    Moses did not bow to any power on the mountain

  14. ما خرَّ موسى لدكٍّ قام بالجبلِ

    بل خرَّ مما تجلَّى منه للجبل

    Rather he bowed to what was revealed to the mountain

    His swoon was only to inform him

  15. ولم تكن صعقته إلا لتخبره

    بما به اختصه الرحمن في الأزل

    Of what the Merciful privileged him with eternally

    The life that is sensory is not deserving

  16. إنَّ الحياة التي في الحس ليس لها

    هذا المقامُ لما فيها من الخلل

    Of this station due to the flaws within it

    For if the light of the eye perceives Him

  17. فإن بمنّ بنور العينِ تبصره

    لذاك أصعقته ما كان من زلل

    For that He swooned him without any stumbling

    I looked with my eyes and they testified

  18. إني نظرتُ بعيني وهي تشهد لي

    برؤية الجبلِ الراسي على الجبل

    To a vision of the firm mountain upon the mountain

    The Moses whose distinction was affirmed for me

  19. موسى الذي ثبتتْ عندي أخوتّه

    من الذي قد كساه أفضل الحلل

    The one adorned in the finest robes

    Our imams informed us of him

  20. بذاك أخبرنا عنه ائمتنا

    ولم أعرِّج على التمثيل والبدل

    And I did not deviate into figurative interpretation

    There he journeyed bodily that he might see

  21. وثم أسرى به جسماً ليبصر من

    آياته عجباً وجاء عن عجلِ

    Wonders from His signs and came hastily

    The text came from the Sacred House

  22. النصُّ جاء من البيت الحرامِ إلا الأ

    قصى وما زاد فالأخبار تشهد لي

    To the Farthest except for other reports that testify for me

    So it is clear that the two matters were combined for him

  23. فصح أنّ له الأمرين قد جمعا

    لأنه أكرم الأشخاصِ والرسلِ

    For he was the most generous of all people and messengers

    The inheritance from Him we undoubtedly merit

  24. والورث منه الذي لا شك يلحقنا

    إسراء روح ولكن ليس عن كسل

    Is the night journey of the spirit not because of laziness

    I occupied my self with it though

  25. إني شغلت به النفس الضعيفة إذ

    أصحاب جنته الأعلون في شغل

    The companions of His highest garden are occupied

    And God was with the most high in rank

  26. والله كان مع الأعلون في درج

    ترقى بهم عن حضيضِ الطبع والسَّفَل

    Elevating them from base natural disposition

    God brought us into being generously that He might witness

  27. الله أوجدنا جوداً ليشهدنا

    كمالَ صورته فينا على مهلِ

    The perfection of His image within us bit by bit

    So for me He created hearing and sight

  28. فكان لي اذنا وكان لي بصرا

    وكان ما عندنا من القوى وسل

    And what strengths we possess are from Him

    Our nation's scholars, guides of religion Inform you that the matter is just as I stated without distortion or substitution

  29. عن الذي قلته أحبار امّتنا

    أئمة الدين والهادين للسبل

    And if you ascend to witnessing with your eye you see What I was granted without following past schools

    And praise be to God with an incessant praise

  30. يخبرّوك بأن الأمر فيه كما

    ذكرته لا بتحريفٍ ولا مثل

    A praise that unites the domains of knowledge and action

    For He is the desired of all the learned Bringer together of deed and hope through tasting distinguished by drinking ennobled by quenching He said to us before all "All are from Me" He who transfers the existence of quenching is a gallant soul To whom the command regarding tastes came before

  31. وإن رقيت إلى عين الشهود ترى

    ما كنت قلدت فيه مذهب الأول

    Ibn Tayfour also says he has A valid interpretation for one who knows the like A sound eye he unveiled whatever clouded it May God protect him from the maladies of pathways Kohl, if it needs an eyeliner

  32. والحمد لله حمداً لانفاذَ له

    حمداً يجمع شملَ العلم والعمل

    فالعين محتاجةٌ للكحلِ والكحل

  39. إني أشرتُ إلى علمٍ ومعرفة

    فيما أتيت وما يدريه من رجلِ
