1. Behold, the names of God are mighty,

    and greatest of them, to the intellect, is that which cannot be known.

  2. It is the Supreme, the one sought in every state;

    through this, its precedence from Him stands confirmed.

  3. It is nothing but its being all-embracing of that

    from which you come to be. So understand, if you understand:

  4. that you are by nature fashioned for the state

    in which, at times, you stray and do wrong.

  5. Thus you seek it, needy for it and humbled,

    because you are, in your very essence, a destitute servant.

  6. Indeed, you have overlooked the quality of the one who brought it

    to Solomon, the prophet whose authority was made firm.

  7. For this reason, from the seat of the imamate, he said, “Which of you...?”

    so that you might know who this exalted, venerated one is.
