1. Self-sufficient, needing none of all creation, in His very Essence—and He who

    possesses a radiance of the divine Names that none can attain.

  2. The one entrusted with vicegerency among creation went astray;

    therefore the Qur’an truly declares: “We shall attend to you.”

  3. Drowning in a sea, while salvation lies in a sweet draught—

    but for my existence, the Real would not be seen crushing falsehood.

  4. The Self-Sufficient—though I strive to multiply remembrance—

    said, “I am wholly free of all that.”

  5. Through Him I became free of need, for my being was His existence;

    and through Him I arose, as He poured me into nature’s mold.

  6. A stranger—the eye sees him in a land of exile,

    far from his kin; what is hoped from him shall be attained.

  7. Our going astray was only for a wise purpose:

    it is right guidance issuing from a command brought by the Messenger.

  8. I choked on my saliva—indeed, I choked on its water;

    what wonder, when it is life itself! So proclaim it.

  9. The keen edge of death’s sword—and judgment is the arbiter;

    a tongue eloquent in speech, by no means lisping.

  10. A cloud of inward yearning—the Real’s coming at the Resurrection’s Gathering;

    and spirits of angels—say so, and accept it.
