1. Praise be to God—the praise of one who has not

    found any recompense or thanks.

  3. that, in doing so, he was a bondslave,

    obediently carrying out His many commands.

  4. He took no patron apart from Him

    in praising Him—no, nor any helper.

  5. Whoever knows the Real through tasted knowledge

    knows Him discerningly and clear-sightedly.

  6. Whoever makes knowledge judge over his passion

    has mastery over his own self.

  7. Everyone who sees him recognizes him

    by his distinguishing mark: a master, chaste and self-restrained.
