ما لمنْ أبصرني

غيرُ ما أبصرُهْ

What I see in others

Is what I see in myself

فله مني الذي

بعد ذا أذكرُه

What comes from me

Is what I recall

شجي قام به

وأنا أستُره

My passion moved me

And I conceal it

بل هو المعنى الذي

لم أزل أظهره

Rather it's the meaning

I've always revealed

وبدا منه لهم

خبرٌ أكبره

And from it came to them

News I exalt

وأبى العقلُ الذي

ما إلي مخبره

But the intellect that

Doesn't inform me

وإن إيمانَ الورى

في الورى معبَرُهْ

Is the faith of creation

Its expression

فبه أسمعه

وبه أبصرهْ

Through it I hear

And through it I see

قدمي ساعية

وهي بي تظهره

My feet run

And through me appear

ويدي باطشة

فأنا مصدرُه

My hands strike

So I'm the source

فاكتم الأمر الذي

قلتُ لا تشهره

So conceal the matter

I said don't reveal

طابَ ذوقاً عندنا

جملة مخبرِه

Pleasant to our taste

Is the whole of its report

مثلَ ما طابَ لنا

خبراً أكبرُه

Like what was pleasant to us

Of greater news

أنه ليس بهو

والهَو لا يحصره

That it's not Him

And fancy cannot limit Him

فإذا قلت أنا

فأنا أشعره

So when I say "I"

I express Him

أنني لستُ أنا

وأنا مظهرُه

That I'm not I

And I'm His manifestation

إنّ ذا الهو المقا

م الذي يبهره

That imagined existence

Which dazzles him

إن تجلى بأنا

فأنا أفقره

If it manifests through "I"

I impoverish it

أو تجليتُ به

وهو لا ينكره

Or if I manifest through it

And it doesn't deny it

قام بي نعتُ الغنى

وأنا أنكره

The attribute of Richness stood by me

And I deny it

ثم عن هذا أو ذا

علمنا يكبرُه

Then about this or that

Our knowledge aggrandizes Him
