1. When I heard that the Real was seeking me,

    and knew He meant it, I spoke of the malady.

  2. I drowned in tears whose seas have no

    shore—so understand my intent and my allusion.

  3. Tempests encircled me, and vast became

    their seas, because of what lay therein of my names.

  4. I found none but Him who heals, and so I seek Him:

    He is the ailing, the afflicter, the Hearer, the Seer.

  5. I heard a verse that people recited of my state,

    from before I came to be; in it my story was unfolded:

  6. You are no Noah, that his ark should rescue me;

    nor am I the Messiah, to walk upon the water.
