When I looked upon the sum of all my states,
I knew what had never crossed my mind.
From myself I came to know the forms within the cosmos,
and all the forms it holds are likenesses of me.
He sees me through me, just as I see Him through Him,
text for text, and forms for forms.
Whenever I take my stand in something, He stands through it,
as though He were within whatever appears of my forms.
My knowledge is sound, though my state may give it the lie;
so look to knowledge—do not look to the state.
The Real is my own eye, beyond all doubt; and I see
nothing but what is confined by fetters and chains.
And the Real has no likeness—how, then, can He be seen?
This is what came to my hearing from the reciter.
If He sees us, He surely enters into us;
I see Him—for I am the vicegerent invested with rule.
