أنا في العالم الذي لا أراكم

كمسيح النصارى بين اليهودِ

I am in a world where I do not see you,

like the Christians’ Messiah among the Jews.

فإذا ما رأيتكم نصب عيني

أنا والله في جنان الخلود

But whenever I see you before my eyes,

I am, by God, in the gardens of eternity.

ما مقامي بأرض نخلة إلا

كمقام المسيح بين اليهود

My sojourn in the land of Nakhlah is only

like the Messiah’s sojourn among the Jews.

أنا في أمة تداركَها الله

غريبٌ كصالحٍ في ثمودِ

I am among a people—may God come to their aid—

a stranger like Ṣāliḥ among Thamūd.
