1. الوهية الخلق مجهولةٌ

    وشاهدها أبداً يسلمُ

    The divinity of creation is unknown,

    and whoever prostrates before it forever submits.

  2. فإن الكوائن عنها تكن

    وأفعالها أبداً تحكمُ

    For all beings come into being from it,

    and its acts forever govern.

  3. فظاهرها أبداً حاكم

    وما خلفها أبداً يكتم

    Its outward aspect forever rules,

    while what lies behind it is forever concealed.

  4. وإنَّ الذي هو أصلٌ لها

    بعاداته أبداً يقدم

    And that which is its root

    forever proceeds according to its accustomed ways.

  5. فأسماؤه ما لها سطوة

    بأسبابه والهوى مُعدم

    Thus its names possess no sway

    through its causes, while diversion is extinguished.

  6. إذا أرسل الغيثُ انعامه

    وأعقبه فيهمُ الصيلمُ

    When the rain sends forth its blessings

    and makes the devastating scourge follow them among the people,

  7. يصحُّ الذي يدَّعى أنه

    إله عبيدِك لا يحرم

    then vindicated is the one who claims that he

    is the god of Your servants, deprived of nothing.

  8. فأين الدعاوى وسلطانها

    وأين الذي كنتَ بي تزعم

    So where now are the claims and their authority?

    And where is that by which you used to make your assertions?

  9. أراك لما كنتَ شيَّدته

    بناء عليا لكم تهدم

    I see that what you had erected—

    a lofty edifice for yourselves—has collapsed.

  10. فما أهملوا حين ما أمهلوا

    وجاء الرجوعُ ومن يندم

    They were not neglected when they were granted respite;

    the return has come—but who feels remorse?

  11. فمن قامَ في غيِّه تابعاً

    هوى نفسِه ذلك المجرمُ

    Whoever persists in his error, following it,

    is himself that offender.

  12. ومن قام عن غيه طالباً

    هدى نفسِه ذلك المسلمُ

    And whoever rises from his error, seeking

    guidance for his own soul—that one is the Muslim.
