لله قومٌ لهم في كلِّ حادثةٍ

شانٌ وصورتهم من لا له شانُ

God has a people for whom in every event

There is a special distinction, their image is not like those without distinction

فإن نظرتَ إليهم في تصرفهم

تقولُ ما هم كما قالوا وما كانوا

So if you look at them in their conduct

You say they are not as they said nor as they were

يعم علمهمُ أحوالَ كونهمُ

الماض وآلات بالتصريف والآنُ

Their knowledge encompasses the states of their existence

The past, the means of steering, and the present

سبحانَ من خصَّهم منه بصورته

هم المقيمون في الوقت الذي بانوا

Glory to Him who singled them out with His image

They are the eternal ones from the time they appeared

مسافرون ولم تفقد ذواتهمُ

من المجالس والأعيان أعيان

Travelers, yet their essences are not missed

From assemblies and people, the elite of the elite

أجسامهم هي أجسادٌ ممثلةٌ

للناظرين وهم في العين إنسان

Their bodies are bodies acting

For onlookers, and they are human in appearance

بهم نراهم كما قلنا ويشهد لي

من رؤية الله عرفانٌ ونكران

Through them we see them as we said, and testifies to me

Whoever knows God, affirmation and denial

أنت اعترفتَ بمن أنكرتَ صورته

الأمر سوق فأرباحٌ وخسران

You have acknowledged those whose image you denied

The matter is marketing, so profits and losses

وهم ذوو بصر لما يرون وهم

عند الأكابر منا فيه عميانُ

And they have insight into what they see, yet they

Are blind to our leaders in it

لا يهتدون لما تعطى نواظرهم

وما لهم في الذي يرون برهان

They are not guided to what their sights are given

And they have no proof in what they see

وكلُّ ما انكروا منه أو اعترفوا

به فذلك عند القومِ عرفان

And all that they denied or acknowledged

Of it, that is recognition to the people

هم في الكتابِ الذي اخفته غيرته

منهم ومن غيرهم في الصدر عنوان

They are the inscription in the book whose jealousy

Concealed it from them and from others in hearts, a title

ما في الوجودِ سوى جودِ خزائنه

لها إذا نزلتْ بالخلقِ ميزان

There is nothing in existence but the generosity of its treasuries

For it, if it descends upon creation, a scale

لكنه عنده لا عندهم ولذا

يخيب في نظر الإنصاف أوزان

But it is with Him, not with them, and so

It disappoints in the eyes of justice, weights
