1. نزيه الجنابِ العال كيفَ تنزهت

    به مقل الأبصار بالمنظر الأزهى

    How pure is the Exalted Lord, how sublime His purity

    Dazzling the eyes with the most radiant vision

  2. وكيفَ تراه العين وهو منزه

    بكرسيه العالي المنزه والأبهى

    How the eye sees Him, exalted in purity and brilliance

    On His lofty, sublime, and most splendid throne

  3. إذا سمعت أذناي شرحَ كلامِه

    تحققت قطعاً بيننا من هو الأشهى

    When my ears hear the explanation of His words

    I know for certain who is the most splendid

  4. تعالى جلالُ الله عن كلِّ مدرِكٍ

    ولله حالٌ ما ألذُّ وما أشهى

    Exalted is the majesty of God above all comprehension

    And God has a state of being most delightful and splendid

  5. فأنهيتُ أمري طالباً حقَّ خالقي

    إلا أنَّ عبد الله من كان قد أنهى

    So I concluded my matter seeking the truth of my Creator

    Unless the servant of God had already concluded

  6. فإن كان حقاً ما يقالُ فإنه

    يقرِّرُه حالاً وإلا فقد ينهى

    If what is said is true, then He affirms it as such

    Otherwise He may forbid it

  7. ومثلي من يسهو عن الحقِّ عندما

    يقرِّرُه أمراً ومثلي من ينهى

    And one like me who errs from the truth sometimes

    Affirms something, and one like me who forbids

  8. دهاني بأمرٍ كنتُ قبل جهلتُه

    فما أمكن المملوك ردَّ فما أدهى

    He adorned me with something I was ignorant of before

    So the slave could not refuse - how strange!

  9. وهي جانبُ البيتِ العتيقِ لعزة

    فلم أر أهوى منه بيتاً ولا أدهى

    It is the side of the Ancient House, in glory

    I have not seen a house more beloved and splendid

  10. ولم يلهني عنه حميمٌ وصاحبٌ

    فإن لم يكن بالقولِ بالحال قد ألهى

    No intimate or friend could distract me from it

    If not with words, with state he would have diverted

  11. فلا تحجبني عنك ربيّ بصورة

    فإني لها أسعى كما أنني منها

    So do not, my Lord, veil me from You in any form

    For I strive towards it as I am from it

  12. حديثي الذي عند السماع أبثه

    فما هو إلا من روايتنا عنها

    My discourse, which I relate when heard

    Is nothing but our narration about it

  13. وما علمت نفسي مثالاً مطابقاً

    كما تزعم الألباب كنتُ لها شبها

    I did not know my soul to be an exact likeness

    As the wise claim I was similar to it

  14. إذا طمعت نفسي بإدراك ذاتها

    فتلك التي تدعى بجاهلة بلها

    When my soul aspires to grasp its essence

    That is called ignorant misguidance

  15. تخص إذا خصتْ نفوسَ شريفة

    منزهة الأوصاف بالصورة الشوهى

    It specifically endows noble souls

    Sublime in attributes with the repulsive form
