أنا إن شئتُ شئتُ منل إلا

أنا إن شئتُ شاء من لا يشاءُ

If I willed, I willed nothing but

If I willed, He who does not will, willed

عجباً شئت والمشيئةُ غيري

ثم إن لم أشأ فلست تشاء

How strange! I willed yet the will was not mine

Then if I did not will, you do not will

بل أنا صاحبُ المشيئةِ فاعلم

ومشيئي بها وذاتي المشاء

Rather, I am the owner of the will, so know

And my will is by it, and my essence is the will

كيف شاءتْ مشيئةُ المتلاشي

ولها الحكم ان تشا والقضاء

How did the will of the vanishing will?

And for it is the judgment, if it willed and the decree

بمشي المشيء شاءت فأبدت

كل شيء يصح فيه المشاء

By the walking of the wilful, it willed, so it manifested

Everything in which the will is valid

والوجودُ بصيرٌ

عميتْ عينُ كلِّ مَن لا يشاء

And existence is seeing

The eye of everyone who does not will has been blinded

كلُّ من شاءَ بالوجودِ يشاءُ

وله المجدُ في العلى والثناء

Everyone who willed with existence, wills

And for Him is the glory on high, and the praise
