O ancient house, come hither
A light for you in our hearts shines clear
I complain to you of the deserts I crossed
In which I sent forth my tears streaming
I wake and sleep finding no rest
I stay up at dawn and journey at dusk
Though the camel litter complains from the load
It walks on proudly through the campsites
Our mounts have carried us here to you
Yearning, though hoping not for union
Cutting through thorns and over sand dunes
And cheek - though it complains not of fatigue
It is not the ache of longing I lament
But the burdens I bear, having come in vain
