إني إناء ملآن يشرب ما

فيه من اللبن الممزوج بالعسل

I am a vessel filled, drinking what's in it

Of milk mixed with honey

غير الذي بفنون العلم خصصنا

محمد خيرِ مبعوثٍ من الرسلِ

Except what we specialized in with the crafts of knowledge

Muhammad is the best of messengers sent

أتى بإعجازِ قولٍ لا خفاءَ به

أعجازه انعطفت منه على الأول

He came with the miracle of speech that has no obscurity

Its miracles branched from it to the first

حوى على كلِّ لفظ معجز ولذا

حوى على كلِّ علم جاء من مثل

It contained every word miraculous, and so

It contained every science that came from the like

أتى به الناطقُ المعصوم معجزة

إلى الذي كان في الدنيا من الملل

Brought by the infallible speaker miraculously

To the one who was in the world of boredoms

فما يعارضه جنٌّ ولا بشر

بسورةٍ مثله في غابر الدول

So no jinn or human can oppose it

With a chapter like it in the passing eras

ولو يعارضه ما كان معجزةً

فليس إعجازه يجري إلى أجَل

And if one were to oppose it, it would not be a miracle

For its miracle does not extend to an end

رأيت ربي في نومي فقلت له

ما صورة الصرفِ في القرآن حين تلي

I saw my Lord in my dream, so I said to Him

What is the morphology in the Quran when recited?

فقال لي اصدق فإن الصدقَ معجزة

فقلت با ربِّ غفرا ليس ذلك لي

So He said to me, "Speak the truth, for truth is a miracle."

So I said, "O Lord, forgive me, that is not for me."

هذا دليلٌ بأنَّ القولَ قولكمُ

لا قوله وهو عندي أوضح السبل

This proves that the saying is your word,

Not his, and to me it is the clearest of ways

أتى به روحه من فوق أرقعة

سبعٍ إلى قلبه والقلبُ في شغل

It came to him by his soul from above a curtain

Of seven, to his heart while it was busy

أتى على سبعة من أحرفٍ نزلت

ميسر الذكر يتلوه على عَجَل

It came in seven letters revealed,

Facilitating the mention, reciting it hastily

إذا تكرّر فيه قصةٌ ذكرت

تكون أقوى على الإعجاز بالبدل

If a story is repeated in it,

It becomes stronger in miraculousness through substitution

والكلُّ حقٌ ولكن ليس يعرفه

إلا الذي بدليل العقلِ فيه بلى

And all is truth, but none knows it

Except one who through the proof of reason found certainty

هذا هو الحقُّ لا تضرب له مثلا

فإنه من صفاتِ الحقِّ في الأزل

This is the truth - do not give it an example

For it is from the attributes of the Truth since eternity

لا يحجبنك ما تتلوه من سور

بأحرف وبأصواتٍ على مهل

Let not the chapters you recite

With letters and sounds gradually

فكله قوله إن كنتَ ذا نظر

فيه على حدِّ إنصاف بلا ملل

Distract you, for it is all His word if you are of insight

Regarding it with fairness without boredom

إنَّ الوجودَ إذا أبصرته عجب

فكله كلماتُ الله من قبلي

Indeed, when you look upon existence with insight

It is all the words of God before me

أنا محصله أنا مفصله

بنا تلاوته فينا على وَجَلِ

I am its collector, I am its detailer

Through us its recitation, gradually in us

قد أودعَ الله فيه كلَّ مرتبة

تحوي على حزن تحوي على جذل

God has deposited in it every rank

Containing sorrow, containing joy

فيحزن القلب أحيانا ويفرحه

بما يقرِّره في كافر وولي

So it makes the heart sad at times and gladdens it

With what it affirms for disbeliever and ally

من الصفاتِ التي جاءت مرتبة

على الحقائق في حاف ومنتعل

From attributes that came ranked

Upon realities openly and discretely

يعلو به واحد لله منزله

وآخر نازل منه إلى السفل

With it one ascends to his status with God

And another descends from Him to the low
