A body without a soul, laid low by decay

A withered branch, would that it flowered again

A soul without knowledge, though it is its home

For strangers to behold, when they were created

All were in need of His bounty

The people of falsehood, and those of truth

So He sent the lights traveling

    Illuminating West and East

Thus the body shone with His lights

    Revealing mysteries when it shone

So praise be to God who has protected

From the evil that is feared or avoided
