إذا كنتَ بالحقِّ المهيمنِ ناطقاً

فكن ناطقاً في كلِّ شي بحقِّهِ

If you speak truly of the Supreme Truth

Then speak truly of all things in their right

ولا تأخذِ الأشياء من غير وجهها

فإنَّ وجودَ العدل في غيرِ خلقِهِ

Take not things from other than their essence

For justice exists not outside its nature

فكن بالإله الحقِّ في كلِّ حالةٍ

ولا تجر في الأشياء إلا بوفقه

So be with the True God in every state

And draw things only as He wills and decrees

وخذ سرَّ هذا الأمر من عينِ غربه

وخذ نورَه للكشفِ من عين شرقه

Take the secret of this matter from its west

And take its light for unveiling from its east

فيا نائباً عن ربِّه في صلاته

إذا قام بين الآيتين من أفقه

So you who pray in place of your Lord

When standing between two bows in prayer

ومَن حاز شيئاً من وجودِ إلهه

فما حازَه إلا بأفضلِ خلقه

Whoever obtains a thing of his God's being

Obtains it only by God's best attribute

أنا حقُّ أسماءِ الإله بأسرها

وهل تخزنُ الأعلافُ إلا بحقِّه

I am the Truth of all the Names of God

And can fodder be stored except in its right?

ألا إنني العبدُ الذي ليس يُرتجى

خروجاً بعتقٍ من حقيقة رِقِّه

Lo, I am the servant who cannot be hoped

To be freed by emancipation from his bond

وإن كان عبدَ الله حقاً بذاته

فإني ممن لا أقولُ بعتقه

And if God's servant is free in his essence

I am not one who says he can be freed
