الناسُ أولاد حوّاء سواي أنا

فإنني ولد للوالدِ الذكرِ

People are the children of Eve alike, including me

For I am the son of masculine parentage

إن الأنوثة من نعتِ الرجال لذا

تراهمُ يحملون العلم في الصورِ

Femininity is an attribute of men, thus

You see them carrying knowledge in images

فيصبحون حبالى حاملين به

حمل السحاب لما فيها من المطر

So they become pregnant, bearing it

The burden of clouds with the rain they contain

يحيى به كلّ ميتٍ لا حِراكَ به

فيشكر الحيّ شكرَ الزَّهر للزهر

It gives life to every lifeless being with no movement in it

So the living give thanks like the flower to the flower

فالزهر أسماؤه الحسنى بجملتها

والزهرُ ما أعطتِ السماء من أثر

The flower whose beautiful names are all

And the flower is what the sky has given of effect

يا رحمةَ الله قد حزتِ الوجودَ فما

في الكونِ مقلة عينٍ تخلو من نظر

O God's mercy, you have delimited existence, so

In the universe there is no blinking eye devoid of sight

به يرون وجودَ الكونِ فيه كما

يرون فيه وجودَ الحقِّ في البشر

Through it they see the existence of the universe in it as

They see in it the existence of Truth in humankind

ما بين ضمٍّ وفتحٍ قد يدتْ عبر

لكلِّ قلبٍ سليم فيه معتبر

Between contraction and expansion mysteries have been interpreted

For every heart that is sound and contemplative in it

تربى على قوّةِ الأرواح قوّته

فليس يحرقه الإدراك بالبصر

It was nurtured on the strength of spirits, its strength

So realization does not burn it with sight

لأنه سبحات الوجه فاعتبروا

في النور والظلمةِ العمياءِ والغير

Because it is the effulgence of the face, so consider

In light and pitch darkness and the unseen

هما الحجابُ لها ولم يقم بهما

إحراقها لا و لا ما فيه من ضرر

They are the veil for it, and they did not manage to

Burn it or what harm is in them

والحجب ليس سوانا وهو خالقنا

ونحن مجلى له بالسمع والبصرِ

And the veils are not equal, and He is our Creator

And we are shining to Him in hearing and sight

كذا رأيناه ذوقا في مشاربنا

كما رويناه فيما صح من خبر

Thus we tasted it in our pursuits

As we narrated it in what is authentic from reports

هو القوي حين تعطي جوارحنا

من النتائج فانظر فيه وادّكر

He is the Powerful when our limbs

Give from the effects so look into Him and remember

لولاه ما نظرتْ عينٌ ولا سمعتْ

أذن لما قد تلاه الحق في السور

If not for Him, no eye would have seen, nor any

Ear heard what the Truth recited in the surahs

الله يخلقنا والله يخلقنا

على الدوام كما قد جاء في الزبر

God creates us and God creates us

Constantly as has come in the scriptures

وما له خبرٌ فينا يخبرنا

سوى الذي نحن فيه اليوم من سير

And none has news in us to inform us

Except what we are in today of conduct

وما تكوَّن عنه من تقابلنا

في جنةِ الخلد والمأوى على سرر

And what is configured from it of our correlation

In the Garden of Eternity and dwelling upon beds

ومن يكون على ضدِّ النعيم بما

يلقاه من ألم الضرّاءِ في سقر

And whoever will be in opposition to bliss with what

He meets of the pain of hellfire in Saqar

ليس التعجب من هذا وما عجبي

إلا بأني مع الأنفاس في سفر

Amazement at this is not a wonder, and my wonder

Is only that I am with breaths in a journey

دنيا وآخرة فانظر ترى عجباً

في حالنا واعتبره صنعَ مقتدر

World and hereafter, so look and see the wonder

In our state, and consider it the act of the All Powerful

والجوهر الأصل باقٍ لا زوال له

هو المحل لما يبديه من صور

The primordial essence remains, no cessation to it

It is the locus of what it manifests of forms

الله جلى لنا ما قد جلاه لنا

على صفاءٍ بلا شَوبٍ ولا كَدَرِ

God has elucidated to us what He has elucidated to us

With clarity without blemish or turbidity

لذا أرى زمراً تأتي على زُمَرٍ

كما أتتْ في كتاب الله في الزمر

Thus I see groups that come upon groups

As they came in God's Book regarding the groups

إنَّ المياه على مقدار أعينها

فمنه منهمرٌ وغير منهمِر

Indeed, waters are in proportion to their springs

So some of it is gushing and some not gushing

إنَّ السحابَ بخارُ الأرض أنشأه

ماء يحلله للنجمِ والشجرِ

The clouds, the vapor of earth originated it

Water dissolving it for star and tree

شيئاً فشيأ ويبقى بعضها لندى

أو تستحيل هواء في ذرى الأكر

Thing by thing, and some of it remains for dew

Or it changes into air in particles of dust

لذا رأيت خروج الودق من خلل

فيه ليبرز ما في الروض من ثمر

Thus I saw the emission of buds from crevices

In it to make emerge what is in the garden of fruit
