الحقُّ يعلمُ والحقائقُ تُجهل

والحجبُ تُسدلُ والمهيمن يُمهلُ

The truth knows, while facts remain unknown,

Veils are lowered, and the Omnipotent delays.

لو تُرفع الأستار لا نهتك الذي

عظُمت مقالته فأصبح يهملُ

If curtains lifted, exposing what we hide,

His greatness would be scorned and neglected.

حجبَ العقولَ نزاهة لجلاله

حتى ترى نحو الطواغيتِ تسفل

He veiled our minds - a shield of grace,

So we don't look to idols in our baseness.

طلباً له لما علت من أجله

حارت محيرة فعادت تنزل

Seeking Him for whom we were exalted,

Confused we wandered and fell from highness.

حكمت عليها بالزمان رياحه

لما تجلى الدهر كشفاً يرفل

Winds of time have judged us for this crime,

When days unmasked themselves in brightness.

شال الستورَ عن العيونِ هبوبُها

مثلَ الجنوبِ إذا تهب وشمأل

Their gusts unveiled eyes that clarity

Like southern winds when whirling in mightiness.

ودَبور تأتي خلفه لتسوقه

لصبا القبول لكونها تستقبل

And backward winds will follow to return

Us to acceptance, for they blow in kindness.

فإذا انتفى عنه الوجود فلم يجد

جاءته نكباءُ وتلك المعدل

If existence left Him, and He could not find,

Adversity came, those winds of uprightness.

فدرى بها أن الذي بالهه

من منزل النكباء أصبح يعدل

So He knew the one who distracted His heart

From adversity's place is now in straightness.

وهو الكفور لعلمه بظهوره

في كلِّ شيء وهو علمٌ مجملُ

Ungrateful is he for knowing of His light

In all things, a knowledge that is boundless.
