أرى الأنوار في شرح الصدور

عياناً في الورود وفي الصدورِ

I see the lights in the opening of chests

Clearly in the roses and in the chests

وليس له امتنان فيه أني

أرى أثر الأمور من الأمورِ

And I have no favor in it that I

See the effect of things from things

فإن الحكم للمعلومِ عقلاً

وكشفاً في الجنان وفي السعير

For the rule is for what is known by reason

And revelation in Heaven and in Hell

فحكمُ الشيءِ مقصورٌ عليه

وما أدَّاه ذاك إلى القصورِ

So the rule of a thing is limited to it

And that does not lead it to enclosures

ولكنَّ الأديبَ إذا رآه

يقولُ بذاكَ من خلفِ الستورِ

But the literate when he sees it

Says about that from behind the veils

ويدخل محرِماً بلداً إحراماً

ويلبس للملابسِ ثوبَ زور

And enters a prohibited land in prohibition

And wears for clothes a garment of lies

فيأخذه العليم بما ذكرنا

ويوصله إلى دهرِ الدهور

So the All-Knowing takes him for what we mentioned

And takes him to the eternity of eternities

لقد دلَّتْ شواهده عليه

بما دارت عليه رَحى السرورِ

His examples have indicated it to him

With what the millstone of bliss revolved around it
