إذا يضيق بنا أمر ليزعجنا
نصبر فإنَّ انتهاءَ الضيقِ ينفرجُ
When hardship befalls us and troubles us
We endure, for the end of hardship brings relief
بذاك خالقنا الرحمن عوَّدنا
في كلِّ ضيقٍ له قد شاءه فرج
Our Merciful Creator has accustomed us
That for every hardship He has willed there is relief
ألا ترى الأرض عن أزهارها انفرجت
كما السماء لها في ذاتها فرجُ
Do you not see how the earth reveals its flowers
As the sky within itself has relief
والكون علو وسفل ليس غيرهما
والأمر بينهما بالنص مندرج
And the universe, its heights and depths, has naught but them
And the matter between them is clearly defined
وكلُّ شيء من الكوان نعلمه
موحدا هو في القرآن مزدوجُ
We know everything in existence
In the Quran, unified yet dual
حتى الوجود الذي إلينا مرجعنا
بما له من صفاتِ الكون يزدوج
Even our existence, to which we shall return
With attributes of the universe, dual
فليس يوجد فرد ليس يشفعه
شي سوى مَن له التقسيمُ والدرج
No individual exists without a pair
Except He who apportions and grades
ذاك الإله الذي لاشيء يشبهه
من خلقه فبه الإصباح تتبلج
That God, who nothing resembles
With whose dawn, day breaks
وهو العزيز فلا مثلٌ يعلدله
وإنما بمتاب العبدِ يبتهج
He is Almighty, with no equal
Yet is gladdened by the servant's devotion
فكيف من هو محتاجٌ ومفتقرٌ
إلى أمورٍ بنا إن لم يكن حرج
How can one who is needy and destitute
Of things we need, have no distress
فلا يصح على الإطلاق أنَّ لنا
حكمَ الغنى ولهذا فيه يندرج
It is not sound to say that we
Have power and wealth in full
الحبُّ شاهد عدلٍ في قضيتنا
إذا الخلائق فيما قلته مرجوا
Love is an honest witness in our case
When people follow what I have said
هم المصابيحُ في الظلماء إن ولجوا
كما هم العمى إنْ زالوا وإن خرجوا
They are lanterns in the darkness if they enter
And blind if they depart and leave
سبحانه وتعالى أنْ يحيطَ به
علماً عقولٌ لمّا في ذاته دلجوا
Glory to Him, no minds can encompass
Knowledge of His Being when they delve
أما تراها على الأعقاب ناكصة
لما رأت فنيت في ذلك المهج
Have you not seen them turn back
When they saw they were lost in that fray
فليس يدركُ مجهولٌ حقيقته
وفيه خلفٌ لأقوام لهم حجج
No unknown can grasp His reality
Leaving those with proofs confounded
لو أنهم نظروا في حسنِ صورته
قالوا به قرنٌ قالوا به فلج
If only they considered His beauty
They would say He has eyeliner and kohl
قالوا بعينيه في إبصاره وَطَف
قالوا به كحلٌ قالوا به دَعَجُ
They would say His eyes show mercy in seeing
They would say He has mascara and eye shadow
فما أقاموا على حالٍ وما جمعوا
عليه في علمهم فيه وما درجوا
They established no stance, gathered
No knowledge of Him, no rank attained
هذا مع الخلقِ كيف الحقُّ فاغتبروا
ما في بيوتهمُ من نوره سرج
This with creation, so consider Truth
What light of His their homes contain
