1. تولّد ما بين الطبيعةِ والأمر

    وجود يسمى عالم الخلقِ والأمرِ

    Between nature and command, an existence is born

    Called the world of creation and command

  2. أهيم به دهري لصورةِ خالقي

    ولولا وجودُ الدهرِ لم أفن في الدهرِ

    I wander in it all my life for the image of my Creator

    Without the existence of time, I would not perish in time

  3. أذوبُ وأفنى رقةً وصبابةً

    إذا ما ذكرتُ الله في السرِّ والجهر

    I melt and vanish in tenderness and youth

    When I mention God in secret and aloud

  4. وفي صورةِ الأكوان أبصرتُ صاحبي

    لذا كثرتْ أسماء حبي في شعري

    In the image of the universes I saw my Companion

    So my love's names abound in my poetry

  5. فإن قلتُ شعراً في شُخيصٍ معينٍ

    فما هو إلا ما تضمنه صدري

    If I recite a poem about a specific beloved

    It is but what my heart contains

  6. هو الحق لكن قيدَتْه حقائق

    تقومُ به من عقلٍ أو حسٍّ أو فكر

    It is the Truth, but realities restrict it

    Through intellect, senses or thought

  7. يناجيه في سرّي ضميري وشاهدي

    بأسمائه في الشفع كان أو الوتر

    My conscience and witness converse with Him

    In His names, paired or single

  8. أقول له حبي فأسمعُ ردَّه

    بما قلته مثلَ الصدى حكمه يجري

    I say to Him my love and hear His reply

    Echoing my words, His decree flows
