خُصصتُ بعلم لم يخصَّ بمثله

سواي من الرحمن ذي العرشِ والكرسي

I was endowed with knowledge unmatched

Except by the Most Merciful of the Throne and Chair

وأشهدتُ من علمِ الغيوبِ عجائباً

تصانُ عن التذكارِ في عالم الحسِّ

And I witnessed of the knowledge of the unseen, wonders

That are too sacred to be mentioned in the world of senses

فيا عجباً إني أروحُ وأغتدي

غريباً وحيداً في الوجود بلا جنسِ

How strange that I come and go

A stranger, alone in existence, without kin

لقد أنكر الأقوامُ قولي وشنَّعوا

عليَّ بعلمٍ لا ألومُ به نفسي

The people denied my words and maligned

Me with knowledge for which I do not blame myself

فلا هم مع الأحياء في نور ما أرى

ولا هم مع الأموات في ظلمة الرمسِ

For they are neither with the living in the light I see

Nor with the dead in the darkness of blindness

فسبحان من أحيى الفؤاد بنورِه

وأفقدهم نور الهدايةِ بالطَّمسِ

So glory to Him who gave life to my heart with His light

And blinded them, the light of guidance, with blindness

علومٌ لنا في عالم الكونِ قد سَرَت

من المغربِ الأقصى إلى مطلع الشمس

We have knowledge of the universe that has spread

From farthest West to rising of the sun

تحلَّى بها من كان عقلاً مجرَّداً

عن الفكرِ والتخمين والوهم والحدس

Adorned with it is he who had a pure mind

Free of conjecture, guesswork, illusion and hunches

وأصبحتْ في بيضاءَ مثلي نقيةً

إماماً وإن الناسَ منها لفي لَبسِ

And it became in my pure whiteness immaculate

A leader, though people about it are in confusion
